our name  bǔ jiù, or buju means “remedy” in chinese. true to ancient eastern practices, we believe that the best remedies for healing come from the natural world. that is why each of our handmade balms are created with natural and pure ingredients.

Aloe Vera Butter

aloe vera butter is extracted for the aloe vera plant using a fatty coconut fraction, which makes it the perfect ingredient for rapid hydration and soothing of dry skin. rich in essential vitamins such as vitamin a, c, e, b, choline, B12, and folic acid, aloe vera is a super skin food! we love using aloe vera butter because it is known to maintain supple and youthful skin and treat puffiness (especially around the eyes)!

Matcha Powder

matcha is the finely ground powder of green tea leaves that does wonders for the skin. not only does matcha powder have anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties that reduce irritation, redness and clogged pores, but it also contains a powerful antioxidant (egcg) which is an anti-aging ingredient that brightens the skin. matcha is also full of vitamin b2, which is essential for skin health maintenance, increasing the skin's collagen levels.

Coconut oil

this magical elixir should be a staple for all natural skincare products and natural skincare lovers.  coconut oil is known to hydrate skin for 24 hours and improves skin elasticity and collagen production.  coconut oil is also known for its cleansing properties, as it is a naturally antibacterial and antifungal ingredient, helping to clean out clogged pores and reduce acne.

Olive oil

olive oil is an ingredient that is found in many serums and facial oils, containing the powerful antioxidant squalene, which helps skin retain moisture in the lips and body.  did you know that beauty legend queen cleopatra’s favorite skincare product was olive oil?  actress sophia loren was also known to regularly take olive oil baths to maintain her healthy and age less skin!

Beeswax

beeswax is high in vitamin a, which has been found to support cell reconstruction and help reduce fine lines and wrinkles.  did you know that retinol products, which help speed up cell growth and stimulate collagen production, are all derived from vitamin a?

Shea butter

There are very high concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins that make shea butter the dream ingredient for soft and supple skin.

Argan oil

argan oil is full of omega fatty acids, vitamin e, and linoleic acids, which provides moisture, reduces acne, and adds plumpness to the skin. linoleic acids are critical in proper tissue and skin cell growth.

Peppermint oil

peppermint oil contains natural antiseptic and antibacterial properties to naturally cleanse the skin, with a cooling and refreshing feeling.  an added benefit is that peppermint oil slightly irritates the skin, which gives off a plumping sensation.  we love this for the lips!  it is basically the same result as lip venom or lip plumpers, but natural (and minus the chemicals) of course.

Citrus oil

citrus oil has antioxidant benefits, repairing damaged skin cells and tissues leading to glowy skin and increased collagen production.  citrus oils also contain vitamin c, a vital molecule for skin health, preventing skin damage from exposure to free radicals (sun damage, air pollution, etc.).
